The Sea Bees crew enjoyed a cracker of a spring day at the stunning Catherine Hill Bay. With blue skies, warm water, and plenty of beach to spread out on, conditions were spot on for a great session.
There were good numbers of fish caught throughout the day, keeping everyone on their toes. While exact numbers will be confirmed in the Recorder’s Report at the next club meeting, it was clear from the action on the sand that the fish were on.
Aussie salmon were thick and active, with solid fish up to 610mm landed. Several members were kept busy wrangling these hard-fighting surf predators.
There was also a good showing of bream, with Peter landing a standout fish at 390mm – a real thumper. Other species included Dart, Mullet, and a few unidentified hookups that added to the excitement.
The rising tide proved most productive, with fish going quiet around the top of the tide. That was the cue to stow the gear and make tracks to the Catho Pub for a well-earned feed, a refreshing beverage, and a few laughs to round off the day.
The beach was alive with activity — surfers, swimmers, and beach walkers all sharing the sunshine, along with what seemed like every dog breed imaginable.
Another great outing with good mates, good fishing, and good times — we’ll catch you all at the next club meeting for the full wrap-up.
Cheers
