Lake Windamere - October 2025

Report by Kurt Forrester

This year’s Lake Windamere adventure saw a skeleton crew of SeaBees anglers enjoying a memorable weekend on the water and around the campfire. The group included Sam Schembri, Ron Abdilla, Dave Gerard, Bec Fazio, Neil, Helen, Kurt, James, Caitlin Forrester, and Paul and Sally Tanti.

With the dam sitting at an impressive 90% capacity, expectations were high—but the fishing proved challenging. Despite the tough conditions, a few standout performances made the trip one to remember. Dave Gerard led the charge, landing 3 Murray cod and 2 yellowbelly, all measuring over 550mm—a phenomenal effort. Sam Schembri followed closely with 1 cod and 3 yellowbelly, showing great persistence. Kurt and Bec each managed to reel in a yellowbelly, adding to the team’s tally.

Sunday’s BBQ was a highlight, thanks to Ron Abdilla, who treated everyone to a fantastic lunch feast. The weather was mostly kind, offering sunny skies and calm waters—until Monday, when the wind picked up just in time for pack-up.

Evenings were filled with laughter and storytelling around the campfire. Although the projector didn’t cooperate this year, the crew improvised brilliantly with three streams of the NRL Grand Final, ensuring no moment was missed and plenty of replays were enjoyed.

A big thank you to everyone who made the trip up there!
